Midwest Samurai

Offering love and hope to anyone who wants it.

The Band

"Midwest Samurai" was started by Sam Hirsch (Vocalist) and Gavin Wolff (Drummer) in September of 2025. Initially an idea for an album title, the two fell in love with the idea of representing their birthplace, meeting place, and where they grew up. The "Samurai" represents a life of dedication and discipline to their craft and workmanship. "Samurai" is also the Japanese word for "servant," representing the mission of their creativity: to offer hope and service to anyone who wants it.

Madden Prybylski (Guitarist), Gavin's younger brother, joined in early 2026 as the guitarist, completing the trio.

The trio makes up an indie alternative sound that breeds reflection and a stank face. Taking literary inspiration from hymns, philosophy, and tavern folk music, their writing tells stories and forces attentive listening. They create soundscapes that fill a room, drawing from punk, indie, and tavern folk while keeping an authentically lived, raw feeling in the instrumentation and vocals — you can feel it from your bones to your soul.

Vocals move with extreme dynamic, from room-filling highs to intimate lows. Bass grounds the band and accentuates the vocal. Drums make every build cinematic and chop up the resonance of low, emotional sections. Guitar fills the gaps, holds melodic interest, and narrates the story of each song.

Everything is done in-house: production, recording, artwork, writing, engineering, video, photography, and marketing.

We are a band that cares about everyone we encounter, works hard, remains consistent, and abides by what we say. Feel free to reach out with any inquiries, get on our email and text lists, or keep up with us on most platforms. Thank you for your time!
